Rice Terraces in the Mae Rim Valley
The resort occupies twenty acres of the Mae Rim valley, about half an hour north of Chiang Mai's old city. Its rice terraces are not decoration — they are worked, planted and harvested through the year, and the low-rise pavilions are arranged around them rather than over them. Lily ponds, teak and a deliberate absence of height keep the whole place at the level of the fields.
Accommodation runs from pavilion suites raised on stilts above the paddy to multi-bedroom residences. Wellness sits at the centre of the programme: yoga and meditation, naturopathic treatments at the Wara Cheewa Spa, and a plant-forward kitchen alongside the Thai cooking at KHAO.
Open-sided pavilion living rooms look straight onto the fields
